The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association formed Troopers Helping Troopers (THT) Foundation in 2011. THT was established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax-deductible. Active members believe so strongly in the mission that they are the primary contributors to the foundation. THT is also grateful for the donations received from our community members, corporations, and small businesses. Every contribution, big or small, is appreciated. Since its establishment, the mission of THT is to honor Troopers, their families, and others in the law enforcement community in their hour of need. When a need arises that creates a financial strain on the individual or family, the THT Foundation is there to assist. THT assists in the following:
Those injured or permanently disabled in service to the public.
Funeral expenses for active Troopers who are killed in the line of duty.
Those who have a loved one that is sick and faces expensive medical treatments and out of pocket expenses.
Those who have a primary residence that suffers significant damage due to a fire or natural disaster.
Most important to the foundation is paying the funeral expenses of a Trooper killed in the line of duty. Every Pennsylvania State Trooper lives by the Call of Honor. In the Call of Honor, each Trooper recites "if need be, lay down my life as others have done before me, rather than swerve from the path of duty." Unfortunately, 100 Troopers have made the ultimate sacrifice and have been killed in the line of duty. THT believes these members should be laid to rest with honor and the funeral expenses should not be the responsibility of the fallen member's family. To date, THT has donated more than $400,000 to over 150 recipients. These distributions have helped our Troopers, those associated with law enforcement, and their families deal with the extraordinary costs that can be caused by extraordinary circumstances.
